One thing I remember about the N64 version of Legends is that the instruction manual had colored pages. I remember being jelly of my N64-owning friend when he got the game.
I always hated the black and white manuals on PS1, they seemed so cheap. Even worse when I learned that the japanese ones are actually in full color.

It's a moot point because PS1 doesn't look good either. On a CRT, AA actually helps a lot.
Any version of this game is fine. If you have a N64, you can probably find a boxed copy (with a full color manual) for around $30.
For PS1, the game costs a lot more, and the manual is black and white bullshit. So, as far as physical/collectorfag goes, I'd say go with the N64.
But if you have a PS1, you obviously had it chipped so you can just burn a CD-R copy of it, or torrent the PC version.

If you're looking into buying the game, 64 is also cheaper.
If you're gonna emulate, I'd say play the PC version as it's the one with the best textures (based on the 64 port, but higher res).
I think the PC version has some trouble with the audio sync during cutscenes, though.

There's also Rockman Dash collection on the PSP, but I haven't tried those, I assume they're still japan-only.

Legends and 64 are the same game (both called Rockman Dash in Japan, anyway).

MM64 is a port from the PS1 game, and Capcom was lazy so it isn't as good of a port as it should have been. It fixes some graphical issues the original has, it looks less flickery and more consistent overall, but also the draw distance is worse, and the voices sound muffled.
Honestly if you already have MM64, you don't _need_ to play Legends on the PS1, it's the exact same game. There is also a PC version with higher resolution, but that one also has some issues (sound sync during cutscenes).

Legends 2 and Tron on the PS1 are expensive games but good nontheless. Not sure if they're worth the asking prices of today, but you can always mod your PS1/PS2 to play backups.

Fair enough, the voices sound muffled and they could have done a better job about it, as you said they had tools available.
