Before anyone posts Poison: reminder that Poison was originally designed as a woman (a DNA XX woman), confirmed by both designers from Capcom, Nishitani and Akiman.
You can technically think of the US version of Poison as a transexual, but the original japanese Poison is 100% DNA XX.

Nothing to do with nintendo's censorship, it was the original game designers being told that american feminists might sue them if they saw games with girls being beaten up, so they came up with the newhalf idea for both Poison and Roxy.
But yeah, original Poison is actually female. The newhalf version just stuck around, but its origin is very funny.

It's funny how society changes over the years, but humans always find ways to bother others by getting offended. Used to be religious, moralists and (old wave) feminists, now it's liberals, progressives and (3rd wave) feminists.

Because those changes weren't needed. You aren't getting the game as originally intended by the devs.
It's like watching the american version of Dragon Ball with Mr. Popo being blue instead of black to avoid offending people.

Western people get offended by a lot of insignificant stuff, Japan knows this so in order to avoid getting sued by opportunist lawyers, they change things around for the international releases, sometimes these changes get made in the west though, but a lot of times it's the same developers who decide to make changes to their own games in order to avoid any problem with angry religious people, minorities or feminists.
Funny how feminists were always a problem, back then, and today. Their ideologies have changed 180 degrees, but they are still a pain in the ass all the same.
