I play without filters simply because CRT monitors sucked in 1994 and they suck now.
My SuperPLS panel is delicious and makes retro games beautifully colored and contrasted, with no ghosting. No filters needed.

And the pixels are charming. Pixels in 2D 8-16 bit games epitomize the whole charm of the era. Blocky and colorful :3
