More importantly, Critical Mode is bad in BBS/DDD when it isn't in 2 and 3 specifically because it only compounds the issues with BBS/DDD's mechanics. Because of how the flow of combat works in command deck games, you're probably not going to notice how mechanically bad the games are on Proud because you can bruteforce your way through them. But on Critical? Oh you better fucking believe you're going to notice what a bad idea it was to make enemies immune to stagger when you aren't in a powerup state or using something like Magnet/Zero Gravity/Balloon, on top of bullshit like enemies going into invincibility phases where they WILL twoshot you if they hit you in Critical so now all you can do is spam the evasion move that gives full iframes until they're done sperging out and go into the phase where you can hit them.
2 and 3 don't have this problem, because they are mechanically solid under the surface, the added difficulty on top of the bonuses only serves to complement the game's combat.
