>Let's face it, video games are the new gold and If you didn't hop on the train then it's too late. There will be a lot of millionaires set for life in the future and you won't be one of them.
I chuckled a bit under my breath. Is this copy pasta? If not, it will be. I have a collection of games and systems going back to an Atarii 2600, only because these are my systems from my childhood. The value is entirely sentimental. There is little to no investment opportunity in plastic carts and cd games. Buying games thinking they are the next hot market is asking for trouble. The only people who will want them are oldfags with money and an attachment to specific titles. This is no different than Records. Collectors/resellers will swap old titles between themselves in a perpetual circle jerk, while gamers continue to avoid them while using flash carts and digital media. In a way there are 2 markets to cater to. Collectors/Resellers as one, and Gamers as the other. I am a gamer. Flash carts are cheap, and this is why my entire history of gaming is shoved into boxes in the corner of my attic. I haven't seen most of my games in years. Thanks Krikzz.

>Retro collecting is driven by nostalgia and the nes/snes crowd has entered mid life crises mode
>Try to make money while you can.
You are spot on. They are also starting to die off, and their next of kin is stuck with a box of plastic shit that they will sell for pennies on the dollar at an estate sale or public auction.

>you had 20 years to download them and you didnt
This exactly

My NES & SNES roms are on disc from the late 90s. Emulation is still "new" to me.

>I can hear those consoles screaming in discomfort.
They still are. Shame of it is that I am looking at buying a local CRT that has been sitting for months.....a 27" console with svideo. I think it is a zenith. The wood is nice, and it has a nice storage area under it. It would look much better in my livingroom vs the 20" silver bordered screen.

Also, there is a 32" RCA with svideo at the same place. It is the standard black border curved screen. I had to get rid of an old set before I would allow myself to even think about getting another.

>By far the easiest way to hook a crt up to a computer is to use a vga crt but you can use consumer component sdtvs by using special drivers to push the vga frequency down to 15khz then use a standalone transcoder to change the rgb colorspace to y/pb/pr (component). Any other method is less than ideal.

Back in the day I used a gforce 2 with a component video dongle that fit in an svideo plug in the card. I still have the dongle. Finding a good card for this is tricky.

>Do you live in Florida
Not even close. Why would you ask that?

>I knew an Indian family
Thrift shop find. $10. There is a sticker that tells me what TV it is for, but I forget...Its on the bottom of the stand...Which would work great with a 32" RCA crt tv.

>The picture is locked at 480i and there is a slight delay
>Most popular method are the dedicated VGA converter boxes

I am pretty serious on native connection, and I know it can be done with certain GPUs. Some can be forced to run at 15khz. I have enough pc stuff laying around including a quad core i5 mini pc, a few low profile gpus and hard drives for days. I don't want it for gaming, but more for a 240p computer to hold all my retro game files & the occasional cd/dvd burning....which I do every decade or so.

I have lots of flash drives

Sameposting myself:

4 months ago my 1tb backup hdd crashed. I lost EVERYTHING that was no physically backed up on SD cards.....this post got me looking at my "collections" and realized that I no longer have a digital copy of SNES titles....I do have a Burned CD from the late 90s with all titles....but I can't be bothered to try to install a CD drive.

Thanks OP. You got me looking for things I may have missed.
