looks like a really nice set, and I totally get you on the noise thing.

is that S-video cable original Nintendo brand or some cheap Chinese knockoff?

you say it looks fine on your LCD screen, but it looks bad on your CRT? ( maybe you could take a picture?)

you might just need to adjust some picture settings. ( have a calibration disc of any kind? or access to the 240p test suite?)
