Just for you, mate. This is the Generations mod that got cease and desisted by id before Quake 3 came out (it used textures and models directly from Quake 1, as well having a similar plot idea to Q3).

I have to disagree on this point and I do overall prefer Q1 but yes, Quake 2 is still a fantastic game overall and I do believe that a large percentage of the recent hate is from bandwagoning wankers. Then of course there's just the people with shit taste, nothing can be done about that, just cope.

So, everyone pay attention: Generations is an awesome mod for Quake2 that allows you to play as the Quake 1 Guy, Doomguy and Wolfenstien Guy classes with the weapons from those games in Quake 2, or as a Quake 2 player in Quake 1 or Doom maps. The mod includes most of episode 1 of Quake (with Quake 1 monsters even) and Dooms E2M8 with a cyberdemon in it and a MIDI track to go with it.
