yes, kind of. I only know a thing like this happened on the Dendy TV show. the host of the show played Super Mario 16 first (I assume), so he concluded that all of the graphics in Joe & Mac got "ripped off" from SM16, and the hammers were "probably taken" from Adventure Island. however, he ended up saying he liked the game, but that it offered "nothing new".
