That's the Unity port right, it's legit good now and has access to some great wads but I think you need a Bethesda account or something, a good way to first play Doom in my opinion.

is Final Doom the best official wad selection for playing coop?

my thinking was Ultimate Doom levels are too crampt for more than 1 and Doom 2 levels have sections that only let one players through (tricks and traps)

Call it a hunch, but I don't think that's the case. Its becoming increasingly common for dead projects to get necro'd into something the original fans and creators aren't happy with. Asset creation isn't everyone's forte, sure, but still. More often than not, people would rather a good project stay dead than be revived as shit.
