ITT: game series where first entry is now borderline unplayable
my picks: warcraft (W1 is and was horrible), postal (the second one is a classic while the first one was pure guano), settlers (same here - S2 is a classic while no one cares about the first one).

I'd also say simcity and system shock but oldfags will sperg out beyond imagination
