MAP13: Checkmate
Author: Lunchlunch

Unlike Lunchlunch's other map in the set, this one is a short, spicy slaughter map. Very well crafted, in terms of gameplay as well as visuals. I won't forget to mention the prime music selection to top it all off.

STATUS: Good

I recently played it and it's perfectly fine. It has a lot of effort put into it. Not the best Mario, probably the easiest (on account of the level structure) but really fucking good for GB. Mario has momentum, you can spinjump, the level design is serviceable with almost every level having its signature gimmick or enemy, the music is nice, the settings and enemy designs are original and we will never see something like them in Mario ever again... what's so bad about it? It's not like Mario's slower movement make the level design feel awkward or something.

I would also say Wario's Castle is an awesome way to top it all off. What an awesome gauntlet and a way for my boy Wario to make his debut.

Never used one of those, or a controller with six buttons on the front but that looks cool. Might be good for fighting games, I could learn to use MAME again and get some CPS2 fighters in there. Neat, thanks for bringing it to my attention, anon.

>>6465261
>I think a lot of anons will say to just use an Xbox or PS4 controller if you have one lying around
lol nope, I am aware they can be used on PC but I have none of those. The one you recommended looks good, just like a PS2 one. I'll look up prices, thanks.

I remember the one time I used that emulator (for Virtual Boy Wario) it was a fucking nightmare to set up for me. So many weird hoops to go through. I ended up having to drag myself here begging for help lmao. That was just the VB emulation, right? For other systems it works just like Snex9x, FCEultra, Gens, or whatever, just load the rom and play.

Right?

Just the scalpers? I mean if they were like, 40 bucks, had two controllers, and were not distributed by Konami I might have gotten one but 100 is a fucking ludicrous sum to engorge their Pachinko and cheap port fund.

I just played it and honestly, I fucking loved it. It makes the game even more memorable and coming back to, like the rest of the game is just a cool warmup for that one gauntlet. My nibba Wario sure had one hell of an introduction.

desu, this is what I thought. I knew I wasn't just drawing a blank, and as other posters in this thread have said: By the time games which would strain a 386 or 486 had come out, the Pentium was likely the better choice.

Thanks, everyone. Finding information on configurations like yours and how games would run on them is interesting to me.

Underrated post. I like that you used the word "chug." People's standards were different with software-rendered 3D games like this and LHX Attack Chopper.

I beat Cuphead in under 5 hours. Can I beat the classic Mega Mans? Please don't attack me.
