>Imagine if it happened with Nintendo instead and a Mario game became a Playstation exclusive for a time
That almost happened, but we got Hotel Mario instead

I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but if you don't like the N64, why not just play SNES instead? It's literally the predecessor to the PS1, if you know your history

Being that there are only 35 unique posters in this thread, it's safe to say it is probably the same group of them making these threads and most of us like both consoles/companies.

The answer to the question is obvious if you know the history of the PS1. Also not necessarily a bad thing considering the route Nintendo (and to a degree SEGA) went during that gen,

Doesn't Sony's Playstation brand only exist because Nintendo decided to back out of their deal?

Would Sony have stayed out of the console market had Nintendo not tried to push them out?

There is little chance any SNES add-on would be successful, a failure like that could have kept them out.

Instead Nintendo canceled the Playstation before it had a chance to get to market, without explanation. Hence Sony decided to take the Playstation to market as its own system.

Will there ever be games that make use of the Nintendo Play Station hardware?

Imagine if Nintendo stayed true to their deal with Sony (ie: didn't go to bed with Phillips to father the bastard child that was the CD-I) and the Playstation was produced as intended.

I speculate the console would've singlehandedly dominated the market and laid waste to the competition. Sega Saturn would've never seen the light of day, and it's possible the company would've been acquired by Sony or Nintendo.

Would the console have been too successful for its own good? Would Nintendo have to be forcibly broken up to prevent a monopoly?

I welcome your opinions, /vr/.
