Myst Masterpiece edition, Real Myst or Real Myst Masterpiece edition?

I would spend hours walking around the island and trying to read the almost illegible books. I only manged to get to the Mechanical Age. I must have had an autistic level of patience because the island seems so tiny and empty now and that's where I spent most of my time just wandering around. I finally came back to it a few months ago and beat it. It had a pretty relaxing atmosphere/soundtrack.

Can we talk about old-school adventure games?
Which ones are your favorites? Recommendations, etc.

I wanna play Myst but I'm not sure what the best way to play it on W7 would be. RealMyst seems like it changes too much and I'd rather play the real one. Is there some kind of ScummVM for Myst-like games? I downloaded Myst Masterpiece edition, and I can't seem to change the resolution and there are no options, I don't even know how to save. Any tips?
