I didn't get a gaymen PC until the mid 2000's but I've become fascinated by retro PC games. The ones particularly with lots of depth and complexity. Ultima, Pre-Morrowind TES, Tie Fighter, Severance, etc.

How can I get into this world? I.e. what games should I start with? Dosbox still confuses me and I'm pretty dumb, keep in mind. Thinking of playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Duke Nukem 3D first as they seem fairly easy to understand. Or I could play modern games that might feel retro? Pillars of Eternity for instance. I don't really have a preference in genre atm. Action, shooters, RTS/Strategy, Adventure. I'd like to try 'em all.

Also are there any shows you'd recommend? I loved Spoony's Ultima retrospectives, and AVGN is good for NES (but not PC).

ps. maybe a sticky for those interested in getting into retro games in general?
