For you Doom 1 fans, you should really check out the Doom II for Doom 1 mod. As much as I admire Doom II's creativity, of gimmicky maps, Doom 1 was always the better experience for me just to knock out those first three episodes. This mod randomly places Doom II enemies within the game, and it feels so at home to have these guys flesh out the roster. Though it's important to note, the SSG was not carried over by the mod. Instead, the Doom II enemies' health is balanced as such to consider that fact.
