We know that the souls Link meets in the game are troubled, and after being healed with the song of healing, they get transformed into masks, as their real soul ascends to heaven, or something like that.

I was wondering, what's with the Deku soul then? I think the poor deku kid for some reason hated the other dekus. Maybe they were mean to him? So they all looked like mad scrubs to him. And there's a giant mad scrub too, which could represent the king. Maybe the Deku King treated him like a slave? Maybe the deku guards made fun of him because he was just a worthless butler's son? Also, we know that he ran away, and got as far as the edge of Termina, where he couldn't advance further (as there's a big hole). Then Skull Kid zapped him and stole his soul, leaving the twisted tree behind.

What do you think happened to the Deku kid?
