When I quit videogames the first time, it was the inexpensive Gamecube with the Gameboy Player that provided me with cheap, affordable entertainment back then. Being a non-portable player on a shoestring budget, getting loose GBA games for under $5USD each from the most random places was pretty much the essential games for the system. Spend a few with the Metroid or Castlevania titles and be engrossed. For proper games specifically to the system, F-Zero GX is probably the last one I'd give up, even though games like Super Monkey Ball or the Resident Evil games give it a run for the money in terms of a great experience. For Mario sports, sure tennis and golf are pretty good, but give Strikers a chance that one has some good competitive flair.

Aside from the GBA games, I mostly got the survival horror games on the Gamecube like Eternal Darkness and the RE titles. F-Zero GX was a showcase of amazing visuals to all. I cannot choose a single favorite, since there were quite a few great games on the system.

Mario Kart Double Dash features a dual character combination mechanics that has not really been featured in any other release of the series. Give it a try.

Castle Shikigami 2. It is a fun shooting game.

Very nice. I'm jealous as I'd like more of the games, but didn't have the funds to get much of what I wanted on the system back then.

I prefer physical, since they had a higher tendency to hit the bargain bin, whereas digital tends to stay at a higher price or requires continual payment which is too costly for most in the USA. I got most of what I had thanks to shelves like your pic, which are not available at such low prices digitally.

I blame wages not keeping up. Productivity has exponentially increased, but employers continually kept wages low despite their increased profits. I really wanted to support the GameCube more, but I kind of quit videogames once the Dreamcast died, and was not earning enough to get as much from the clearance racks anymore. I still wanted to enjoy the games I want to enjoy on the system, but with a severely limited budget, hard choices had to be made.

Baten Kaitos is a really cool mix of card game an JRPG. F-Zero GX looks and plays impressive. Resident Evil was amazing with surprises defying my expectations after playing the original.

It was a short lived time, but still great. I lament that my friends and I never had the get together planned with GBAs and cables to play 4-swords together.

F-Zero and the Super Monkey Ball games are a lot of fun. I remember being at a friends playing 4-player Zelda with GBAs hooked up. You can't lose with the Resident Evil games.

I remember it was well priced here. It started at $200USD but at some point they dropped its price down to $100USD which no other major console ever dropped to since. It had some strong quality titles with great critical reception which made it a very attractive offer. In Japan, at that time started to become less interested in home consoles and more effort was placed onto portables and arcades.

I was not able to afford much back then for the system, now I definitely cannot afford the games with the crazy expensive prices. I would like to buy up all the Gamecube games, but that is not practical at this time, so I enjoy what I do have, and will just have to emulate the rest.

I actually like the console a lot. There's still many games I want to get on it. It is a shame, since I couldn't get the games back then because I was unable to afford them, and now I really cannot afford the games on the system.

I was not able to afford the games back then, and now I really can't afford the games at their current prices. I am jealous you have Baten Kaitos Origins, Fire Emblem, and the Mario Parties.

That RE4 cover is so good. Don't worry, I can't find my P.N.03 nor Killer 7, I think I lent them out to a friend.
