It's not an emulator. It's a frontend for libretro, which is a paltform emulators are ported to. In other words, it's a piece of software that allows you to run libretro ports of other emulators, including snes9x, which has, too, been ported.

Libretro itself serves this purpose: port software to it, and then you only have to port libretro itself, and everything will work. I.e., instead of porting snex9x, bnes, higan, mame etc. to Android, iOS, MacOS etc., you can just port libretro to those platforms, and it'll just werk.

Retroarch takes some skill t configure on Linux, but on Windows and Android it works out of the box. Click, and it fucking works. It's easier to set up and run than ZSNES. What the fuck was your silly problem with it?
