I experienced this 4 years ago when New Horizons came out. Some of the younger people I know got it and I thought it'd be neat to have some people to play that with. One of them was like, "Why does time pass in realtime? Why is it synced to the system clock? Why doesn't this play like Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley/Rune Factory? They should change that in the next game."

I was thinking, "But that's a signature feature of the Animal Crossing series, you can't take that out. Do you really need this game to play exactly like these other games you played?" The younger generation really does need all games to play the same, apparently.

I like the fact that I actually have a Trinitron, but just a word of advice for everyone: don't ever get a 36 inch TV. It's way more trouble than it's worth trying to carry it and get it anywhere. Settle for 27 inch at the largest. Sure a 36 inch gives you a bigger picture, but it's absolutely not worth the blood, sweat and tears to move this Sisyphean boulder.

Admittedly, the original Japanese devs probably don't care very much if a translation, or localization is faithful or not. They don't really give a shit at that point. I'm guessing they don't care if their writing gets completely changed to parody/"abridged"-tier quality. But seeing the comment that it's because "some things don't translate well" is nonsense, and almost insulting. The truth is, it's out of their hands at that point and couldn't give a shit what it comes across as to non-Japanese audiences. Which I guess is sort of disappointing, but sort of understandable. Technically, terrible localizations are just as much the "intended" product by Japanese devs as whatever they originally wrote in Japanese. But if they can't be arsed to give a shit what the localized products are – which is fine, that's their choice – I'd prefer if they were consistent and honest about their interest instead of making up excuses about certain things not translating very well.

The Japanese devs couldn't give a shit about their original vision, especially to non-Japanese players.
