Apparently it was released 30 years ago two days ago on the 25th June 1993.

Here's to the game that pretty much gave me my love for point and click adventures. Thank goodness I played it after dial up modems were a thing, and I could use walkthroughs on theSpoiler.com rather than phoning premium hint lines.

I love the graphical style, the voice acting, the zany story and that it has Maniac Mansion built into it.

I noticed day of the tentacle, full throttle, and grim fandango remastered are all on sale PlayStation Network. Are they still available for download on vita? Any performance issues or glitches on the remasters I should know about?

Can someone explain why this game is considered a classic? I’m an hour in and I just don’t see it.

Why were there SO MANY point-and-click adventure games in the retro PC era? To name just a few, there was King's Quest, Space Quest, Gabriel Knight, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Leisure Suit Larry, Monkey Island, Phantasmagoria, Myst, and literally hundreds more.

Now the genre is totally dead. I just don't get it. Personally, I was a PC gamer in my youth in the late 80's and early 90's, mostly focusing on CRPGs, shumps, space combat / dogfighting (X-Wing vs. Tie, FreeSpace, Wing Commander), and RTS titles. I personally CANNOT STAND point-and-click adventure games and have totally ignored the genre for 3 decades.

But I just realized just how many of these there were. Did people actually enjoy these titles, or was it more the case that developers just assumed they were popular? And what happened... did tastes change, or were these games never actually fun to begin with?

We're all biased because of how/when/and who we were when we played said games but some of my favorites are:

Day of the Tentacle
Full Throttle
Grim Fandango
The whole Monkey Island series(I can even get some enjoyment from escape as bad as it was)
King's Quest 6
Leisure Suit Larry 5,6,7
Sam 'n' Max
Loom
Kyrandia 2
The Quest for Glory series
Conquests of the Longbow
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Toonstruck
Beavis and Butthead in Virtual Stupidity
The Dig

I could probably come up with more but that was just by looking through my ScummVM, GOG and steam folders.

What am I in for?

I don't care for a lot of his games, but I like Tim Schafer's take on emulating. Which is that he says if you want to play one of his older games that aren't available new anymore he would rather you just emulate/pirate it and then buy a t-shirt from his company or something else to support them.

Personally if I can pay for a game legally, like with the M2 Sega Genesis ports then I like to support them that way. If there isn't a way to buy a game where some of that money goes back to either the developer or publisher then I just emulate.

>Second is that the experience is not the same. Playing a game on an emulator on your computer is a completely different experience.

I completely disagree with this though.
