Gradius V besmirches the good Gradius name, and here's why:

>several unskippable cutscenes
>forgettable OST besides the remixes
>gimmicky and overpowered control of multiples
>checkpoints should be forced but are off by default
>lacking in organic stages/enemies; too much emphasis on Cores
>last level is a rehash of the second stage for retarded story reasons
>have to unlock Edit Mode which Shield, Ripple, etc. are locked behind
>shite rank system compared to IV's absolutely perfect mechanics
>doubles the shot limit making it easier to shoot things
>1x1 Vic Viper hitbox panders to tranmaku fans
>overlong with atrociously poor pacing
>option hunter rarely shows up

Konami fucked up letting those hacks over at Tr*asure work on a Gradius game.

In a Konami interview, the devs stated they were motivated to find something exotic and enigmatic to use for Gradius after they'd been inspired by the Nazca Lines in Xevious, so they went with the Moais.

Been playing Hamster's port of Gradius on PS4. I falsificato a 1-all today (I saved state at the beginning of the level seven) and now it's time to learn how to put on my own pants instead of letting your mom do it.
I'm glad checkpoints aren't a thing anymore.

Avoid the Cotton Saturn Tribute games. Both the Switch and PS4 versions have an ungodly amount of input lag. Do not support City Connection's lazy ports.
