I did get a Playstation modchip directly from MAS, but that Saturn controller was second hand. It was really cheap (under $30USD) since no one wanted Saturn stuff at the time and I wanted an American arcade type of feel. Interestingly, the PCB inside has solder points for a SNES and Playstation wires. Maybe one day I can find a really cheap 3rd party controller to gut and someone that can solder those in.

I have great news for you. They have been created again: https://www.scanlinecity.com/mascase

Very nice. I got it when it was cheap too, but I cannot bring myself to replace the art. I do want to change it over to more appealing looking buttons, but that's a shame with the clear plastic. I am still not sure if I should save up for some clear white buttons so I can match the original color scheme or just go full transparent blue, but if the plastic is that brittle, I may have to hold off until I am confident in how it should look.

What changed from their usual plastic that the translucent ones that makes a different sound profile? It seemed the same for me on the outside.

They did fit the market for low priced items which helped me out. Not much is low priced anymore.

This controller was pretty good once the buttons were changed.

Wait, what happened to GGPO? I used to spend tons of hours on it. I was thinking of getting back into it. I last remembered it required Adobe AIR, and they added in the Capcom D&D games.

Yeah, that was done by Shinkiro which was a pretty good free agent pickup from SNK. While I like the look from CRMK/Bengus , Edayan, Nishimura, Akiman, et al., Shinkiro does bring a distinct look to the table. The cover of the fan disc sets a better tone and mood than the cover of the main game such that maybe it would have made a better cover for CVS2. Especially atrocious is the US art which uses 3 illustrations from Shinkiro (Sagat, Kyousuke, and Geese) and just Kim by Nishimura, which has this lack of balance like it was quickly thrown together in Paint Shop Pro. They could have just done better by using that Shinkiro illustration with Ryu and Haomaru on the rainy rooftop wholesale for the cover.

I would say play whatever interests you. A lot of frontends can sort by genre or even choose a random game. Part of going to the arcades was a select few titles and you opted to try out what caught your eye. Sometiems it was the deep bass of the game's attract mode, the crowd around a particular game, impressive graphics, interesting play methods not easily replicated at home in that time, or a franchise you're familliiar with to give a game a shot.

Various games I play are brawlers like Alien Vs. Predator or Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder. Racing/driving like Rad Mobile or Sega Super G.T. Shooting games like R-Type Leo or Progear. Action, light gun, rhytm, etc. all sorts of games. I've been replaying some Devistators and Donkey Kong recently.

I had no idea the Madcatz brand buttons/stick were that bad, They looked quite similar to actual Sanwa parts, I only replaced them for aesthetic reasons.

I get what you're saying. I too have a similar persuasion to think of the Marvel Vs. games to be more fitted with American styled controls than Japanese clicky joysticks. It was what I was used to seeing and playing. The square gates can't be good for those games, which makes me wonder why they didn't have any HAPP controllers available with the MVC series games. CVS/CVS2 I can understand for Japanese styled, but not at the fast pace of MVC. Hope your projects go well too.

Even 3rd party controller prices are way too much now. I don't have a Xbone nor PS4, but as a pad player I want one of those Hori Fighting Commander controllers everyone here recommends. They are $40USD on Amazon, which is more than every controller/joystick I have posted here (with the exception of the HRAP2).

Very nice. I was on the lookout for those WWE Brawlsticks too just to do something similar. In my heart I cannot destroy the TvC art, but I would have done so with what I feel was ugly WWE Superstars art (the game is good, but I don't think its artwork works with me for a stick that I would want to own). I still haven't replaced the buttons, thinking maybe I should match the original colour scheme, and find some white/transparent buttons too. I do want to change the stick to a Seimitsu LS-32 like you did, so thanks for the info which is good to know what kind of work I have in store to complete the stick.

Yeah, it's for my Sega Saturn. The board inside has pads to soldier a wire for Playstation and Super Nintendo, but I do not have any soldering equipment/skills. It was a cheap when I got it because no one wanted any Sega Saturn stuff, but the shipping upped its price to around $50 in its day.

These were $under $60 at one point on Amazon. Under $30 for the one that had ugly Cena and Helmsley on it. The artwork can be replaced, so aesthetics aren't any problem. However, the stick and buttons are decent imitations of Sanwa parts.

If it makes you feel better, I'm still kicking myself over passing up on getting the Darkstalkers purple one when they were out thinking "I have too many already, I don't need more" when the truth is, I could use more in case I ever break one.

>>3539483
All the blue parts are Sanwa, the red and yellow buttons were stock Hori (nowhere near as good as Sanwa buttons) which came with the stick. The stick itself by default is Sanwa, so all I did was change the ball top color to match. However for Japanese styled sticks, I prefer Seimitsu over Sanwa (vice versa for buttons). The pic here is stock Madcatz all over, and I am thinking of changing the stick to Seimitsu, the buttons and balltop are Sanwa, but I am still deciding if I should just go with 4 clear buttons to match the original color layout instead of going all transparent blue.
