I was enthralled the first time I saw this in a magazine. Turns out the advert was better than the game itself. Say what you will about Working Designs but they knew how to sell you on a game. I think their ads stood out specifically because they were the polar opposite of all the edgy ads at the time and went for more of a whimsical tone.

When the print ad is better than the game it's advertising.

The art of print ads is long dead which is a shame because back in the day you had to convey what a game was all about and also be eye catching with no sound or video. What are your favorite magazine advertisements? The ones that really sold you on the game. Working Designs always had great ones. Some of the ads were better than the games themselves.

This happens a lot, actually. Awesome imagery, mediocre or worse game.
