The greatest thing about Yellow are some of the movesets that got improved.

For instance the Evee evos that got their moves changed thanks to Blue using them.

As a result, using the Evee evos as starters for yourself is actually fun and makes sense all you need to do is breed egs in GSC and transfer them into Yellow at the start of your game

I did that last time I replayed the game and it was kick ass

The best thing about GSC is trading mons back to BRY.

Last time I played Yellow, I had hatched eggs for all of these in GSC, and traded them at the start of Yellow to use them as starters.

It works pretty well with Eve evos in Yellow since they have different movesets compared to BR, thanks to the rival using them too.

You can also trade mons to GSC, teach them move that they can't otherwise know in BR, trade them back to BR with those moves. Teach Earthquake to Aerodactyl, for instance.

And this is my team last time I replayed Yellow.

For starters, I boxed Pikachu and started the game with 3 Evees.

if you trade from GSC, you can get things which are otherwise impossible to get in BRY, like lvl 5 Evees that came from breeding in Crystal. That's how I started with them, by trading those breeds in, as well as a lvl 5 Aerodactyl.

Then I caught Bellsprout and Mew in Cerulean to complete the team.

As for trading with GSC, you can even trade mons to GSC, teach them moves that they can learn in GSC but not in RBY; then trade them back with those moves to RBY. The only condition being that these moves indeed exist in BRY.
it's pretty awesome. Like teaching Earthquake to Aerodactyl.
You can also trade mons to GSC to make them forget HMs.
