If everyone can so everything then finding the optimal set is pretty easy, and once you know that all fights become trivial.
If each character has distinct strengths and weaknesses then you have to learn to play around them, which forces other character's to pick up the slack in that department, creating a far more satisfying experience.

I think having multiple choices is fine but they have to make sense for the character and follow some kind of logic, so that you can't make a frail mage into a tank warrior. However making a mage into a different kind of mage is fine, even preferable because then you can limit further the options available at any given time. That way all situations require you to think what you need and want and what you can do without.

That's what I do as well, but getting Ana to level 21 where she can use PK Freeze γ is an absolute slog.

As I said in >>4954847 about the topic, "canon" is a debatable term. You could argue Sandhop's translation is "canon" in that tbe US and Jaoan have a different "canon". It's not as black and white as you say.

Even then I just personally think Tomato's script is better, even if it isn't "canon". I find Sandhop's script pretty dry and I don't like most of his changes like the town names. May I ask why you like his translation so much more? The only thing I can think of is nostalgia but I want to hear why you defend it so vehemently.
