I realize I also left out getting flux which everyone says is paramount to this kind of work. I also have to find a good multimeter, and learn what that does along with understanding electricity. The journey is not easy for my limited capacity old brain.

How do I recognize the leak? Isn't there some method to clean it if it has leaked, like something involving baking soda or some base like milk to counteract acidity or something?

That video is forever saved onto my watch later, and I always fall asleep trying to watch it. Eyes would just glaze over with that old timey cadence in talking. I understand it is necessary to get the basics of starting, but it is really difficult to go through.

It has hotswappable switches which allow me to test them out without the difficulty of soldering. I was hopping to learn how to desolder the switches off the Corsair one on top and replace them with new switches. Since no one in my state has such capabilities to do console repairs/mods and thought it would be a good practice item because everyone says to practice soldering first.

I don't expect it to have drivers, but I was hoping it could still install onto one. Maybe I'd only format half of the drive and leave the other half unpartitioned for garbage collection. A shame because this video is so close to what I have: https://youtu.be/KM59UYGoZls

The keycaps, like the rest of the stuff there is from China. They all have a chance to be bad or fake, but it was the only cheap option. Especially now when nothing is cheap, even from China.

They modeled their marketing like Star Wars and have everything and anything branded with their property. I really wanted a blu-ray writer, but they are unaffordable as they still go for over $100USD even now when no one uses optical media. Plus, I think the splash of color to the drive is a great contrast to all the black and LEDs of modern electronics. Funny thing is that I do not like the series/story, but I do love the characters like Mana, Ayanami, Asuka, Misato, etc.

After a quick serach, it is a maybe. The company has a website, but the show is not listed under their properties. The low quality of those VCDs is the reason why I don't think they need to be dumped as there must be cleaner and better footage.
