The Playstation's release and popularization lined up perfectly with my transition into adulthood. I was with my fat, older girlfriend living the easy life. Then my best friend, who was her room-mate at the time bought a Playstation.

I had a bitter taste in my mouth from Sega CD and after seeing the 3DO, CDi, and Jaguar I was pretty sure I was too old for video games. I had played Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal the year before that with another friend who worked at Babbage's and I liked Twisted Metal pretty good but then when that other friend got one that Christmas with Resident Evil and Tomb Raider and I was frequently alone with it, or stayed up after I put them to bed I realized that video gaming had finally grown up right along with me.

So that first friend hooked me up with a job at Babbage's and I joined the mall party scene. I met some much hotter girls, got my own place and put in some arcade machines from the good old AAMA auctions and got popular.

The Playstation more than anything else reminds me of that awesome time in my life TM reminds me of being a nerdy virgin. RE and TR were both shockingly good games and remind me of my transitional period. Then the major game that I associate with the height of my awesome 90s lifestyle was FF7.
