That's really cool, I wish this had been released in the states. It's a shame more developers didn't try their hand at 2D games on the N64, it was really perfect for it in a lot of ways. Didn't have very complex sprites, but on a side note, I always thought Ogre Battle 64 was a really beautiful game as well.

screenshot is from an emulator, but this game (Ogre Battle 64) looks stunning on a CRT.

That's not the only N64 RPG although it's probably the most (in)famous because people were hyped for it back then and it didn't deliver.
It's not a horrible game, it just feels unfinished, it had potential.

There were games like Ogre Battle 64, and of course Nintendo's own Paper Mario, but RPGs back then were focusing on the CGI+FMV exploit which actually was a big deal back then when cutscenes were a novelty. That, coupled with the fact that the PlayStation took the market share of the Super Famicom in Japan made companies like Square or Enix to release their flagship series like FF or DQ on PS.
Still, in Japan N64 got some more RPGs like Shiren the Wanderer 2 (japan loved it), Zool (not to be confused with the chupa-chups mascot platformer), or Super Robot Wars 64, also games like Wonder Project J2 and Hybrid Heaven have strong RPG elements, although they're not traditional RPGs I guess.
