I was thinking of default schemes which this other anon pointed out to my oblivious self that there are other control schemes i didnt consider. Similar in some regards but definitely DC is inferior with a regular controller though at the time when i was young i wasnt all that bothered by the wonkyness of the controller in these games.

You could also oddly enough use the Virtual On Twin Stick (if you can get one) for Quake 3. It's not great but it's definitely interesting playing a FPS with 2 sticks. Aside from the k&m there was also this abortion which is really only good for flight games but they advertised it to work with Soldier of Fortune.

As you would imagine, it's not very good at all. There was also a pc version of this monster too.
