what the fuck are you talking about? sequels to popular titles tend to perform better than the first game because word has gotten out about them but people want to jump in on the new part. ff7 is an enormous name but not everyone that's interested in it from the public conscious has actually played it.

Earthbound is on Switch now. No need to pay $400 for the privilege, you can just subscribe and play it right now. Do it.

The inventory system is among the worst in the whole genre. UI is old and busted; the battle screen is first person (aka the lazy option), it's only saving grace the rolling HP counter, which isn't really that great in the big scheme of things. The story is WACKY but not nearly as deep as zoomers pretend it is. WOW I AM THE SNOWMAN YOU BUILT BUT I MELTED EXCEPT IN YOUR MEMORY AM I DEEP YET

nobody's saying you have to play doom on an old ass computer
you could just play doom 1 and 2 with chocolate doom, then use something like crispy or try out the modding content, while stuff like final doom could be optional
one of the worst things that can happen is if they actually play these games and turn out to actually hate it
