The setting, art, music and atmosphere are 10/10 and still haven't been topped.
That being said, the story and gameplay are pretty lackluster despite some neat ideas. I'd say that makes it objectively a worse game than Trigger, but I still prefer it.
As soon as I hear any of the field themes or see art of the towns I'm instantly transported back to my first time playing the game.

Essentialy what >>6404390 said, use savestates because regular saving is iffy. This one is right before the ending for Snes9x, if you wanna skip the first playthrough:

Arni village. Pretty much anywhere in Chrono Cross, actually. I don't get why people are so down on this game. No, it's not Chrono Cross 2. Yes, it's still a wonderful game.

I would love to have such a simple, carefree lifestyle.
