I used to think it wasn't all that great, but after reading the interview with the devs and then playing it again, I have a newfound appreciation for it. It's definitely different from the first 4 games but I don't think it's bad in anyway now. It's actually kinda grown on me and I 'd probably put it into my top 20 favorite games.

A tie between Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Caliber and Vagrant Story and Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (I know it's not retro but it's good)
They all have strategic gameplay mixed in with an amazing story and beautiful art design. Plus two of them are named after Queen songs
