Another Resident Evil one. You can trick the spider boss to destroy its own webs, you don't even need to pick up the knife.

The reason why RE2 showers the player in supplies is because of bosses.

In RE1 and 3, for most bosses there is always a plan-B available. Either you solve a puzzle to defeat the boss, or you can just flee, or you can use your environment to harm/kill the boss, etc In other words, you can deal with the bosses even without ammo.

In RE2 there is only "shoot at it until it dies". Therefore there has to be ammo.

And if you thought that was bad, you (probably) haven't seen the Japanese version. At least in the US version a good portion of the ammo is hidden and the player has to go out of his way to find it. In the Japanese 99% of it is in plain sights sitting in the middle of rooms where you can't miss it.

He has a point though, well designed survival horror have b-plans for bosses so you can deal with them even when low on supplies. it's what RE1 and 3 did

They all have their pros & cons, and I love the Saturn version the most, but the PC version with the fan made patch is probably the most objectively good as far as the base content go. Regarding extra content it's pretty subpar though.
Only thing that sucks about the PC version is that it defaults to Japanese difficulty on a first play, and only uses the western difficulty on an NG+, though iirc the patch has a way to remedy that. I don't remember if you can turn off auto aiming either.

> less ammo

Misinformation. Ammo amount is the same. Only enemy HP and damage values differ from versions to versions.
The only ammo that differ between versions (outside of arrange modes and the likes) is the PC version getting an extra hidden beretta clip in the end game.

>They did this to curb the rental market

In the same part they also say the western audiance as a whole likes challenging action games, unlike the Japanese. Which was true.
