So it's important to note here that although yes, it is an English loanword and yes, katakana is used to approximate foreign pronunciation and general construction, the situation is (depending on your point of view) more or less complex than it seems on the surface.

ダイナマイト is not meant to actually evoke the word "dynamite" per se, that is, either the physical object dynamite or the JJ Walker variety. ダイナマイト is just one of many sensationalized Japanese phrases that has lost all meaning and is really just like a novel-sounding word that lends itself well to Japanese phonetics. So now it just kind of evokes "coolness" in a vague cringey way, sort of like how "ninja" is used in English in increasingly irreverent ways, like "lol im like a ninja" when you show some extremely minor level of skill.

i beat Dynamite Headdy as a kid back in 90s which means i never had knowlege of passwords/codes.
It starts as a childs game and quickly becomes hardcore.
The last battle was so hard for me. I was scratching my head because i was upset and sweating but i finished this fucker.

One of the best gaming experiences i had. Ever.

Dynamite Headdy had a very surreal and colorful art style that is definitely on par with some avant-garde stuff (quite a fan of the avant-garde mentality actually. Especially with music). Also, some of the gameplay mechanics that it has are really unique.

Many times I'm jealous that friends of mine had Super Nintendos and grew up with Super Metroid, A Link to the Past, Star Fox, etc. but I wouldn't give this up for that. I'm so happy I grew up with this game.
