Favorite is of course MK2 I was obssesed with that game back then, hearing the screams in the arcade even from far was an incredible experience. Midway really knew how to make cabinets. The speakers really brought Dan Forden's opening to life.
I do a few replays on arcade emulator every month or so, sometimes like to check the home ports just for nostalgia sake.
The only problem is that I tend to end up playing by exploiting the AI due to how cheap it is. I wish it was more like the AI on the King of Fighters games, where you feel like you are almost playing against someone.
Not too long ago I was checking the MK4 PC port and was surprised at how good the music sounded, most of my MK4 memories were on N64 (I did play a few coins in the arcade back then) but the N64 audio was so incredibly compressed, comparing the two is very funny.

The AI was so rigged to instantly 0 frame react to whatever you did, that it was also hilariously easy to take advantage of.

MKII Arcade was very hard, and also very easy.
