It doesn't make sense anyway. The easier it is to pirate games for a certain console then the more of those consoles should be sold considering you need that console to play the pirated games on.

The PS2 sold incredibly well despite it being hard to pirate games for (at least to my knowledge), but that was because of how many people had a PS1 (which also sold incredibly well) that they (likely) did pirate games for.
That seems to work under the same belief that Microsoft works under when it comes to their pirated OS or other software. They don't give a fuck about people pirating their OS or really any of their software. Entirely because the more people who use it, pirated or otherwise, the more they grow used to it. The more used to it they grow, the more likely they are to stick with it (through brand recognition, knowing what to expect etc) which means the less likely those people are to use a competing OS or a competing software in the future. The same reason Microsoft gave everyone free upgrades to W10 regardless whether their current copy of Windows was legit or not, assuming you can call W10 an upgrade obviously. They care about their market share.

That's just how people, if it isn't fucked you don't need to fix it. Look at the boomers who bought X brand of TV years back and then when it came time to buy a new TV they'd buy the same brand - because they knew what to expect. It didn't matter if they'd bought that first TV from a store or from some junkie, they'd grown used to it, they knew what to expect from that company and their equipment. Therefore they played it safe by buying the same brand again.
The more of a market share you have the more investors you can get to invest and therefore the more shekels you can make. Keep in mind that Amazon didn't make a penny of profit for over a decade, but it was kept afloat entirely because of investors who knew it would pay dividends in the future by virtue of the market share they'd have by then.
