And by "cultural" I'm including gaming in general as a culture.

I didn't want to hijack the current Goemon thread and shit it up so i made this one, but that thread and the multiple recent others inspired me to have a play and a read of some of these games. I played the heck out of the first one on SNES in the 90's and loved it (how YMO is that OST!?) but don't have much experience with the other entries in the series.
Off i went to mobygames to have a read, "cool" I thought to myself but I'm hungry for more so off I went to Giantbomb to have a read, "cool" I thought to myself.....
But then I don't know why I did this to myself, I knew it was going to end poorly, but I made a grave mistake. I went to HG101 and attempted to read their article about it. They open the article by calling the series "wacky and ridiculous".
I find this strange. How can supposed "hardcore gamers" whose website is 95% based on Japanese video games call a game with heavy Japanese cultural influence "wacky and ridiculous". These guys make money off this stuff and yet they're laughing at it derisively at the same time.
Or is it just a case of amateur hour? Was it the first time they've ever seen something from Japan and gone OMG XD SO WEIRD LOLE. The article is dated 2014 so that can't be the case.
Are they just arseholes then? If you are going to insert your opinions into an article like that you're meant to at least wait until the end, not open with them.
There are countless other examples of this kind of crap over there.

The quality of the writing on that website is utterly shameful. Most of the articles should be purged from existence as a professional duty, lest someone actually read them and realise "my god, ..... this stuff is garbage".

Inb4 "reddit spacing".
