TRANSLATION TIER LIST

S-TIER
Bad Japanese translation: lots of memorable Engrish and fun goofs that give you tons of original and mysterious names like Touph Ring. Prompts you to ask questions like "What is a Touph, and why is it a ring?" The answer is that it wasn't a Touph Ring, it was a Tough Ring, which is super lame.

A-TIER
Earnest translation forced through censorship: Ted Woolsey stuff where you get interesting tragical ironical moments like Celes "perking herself up" by cliffdiving. Make you wonder exactly what the fuck was going on at certain points and stimulate your imagination.

B-TIER
Wacky translation: Gives you nostalgia for the era in which the game was produced. Tickles your brain trying to recollect dated references to Full House. Makes you remember Steve Urkel.

C-TIER:
Failed writer and English major tryhard translation: Get loads of obscure references like Granfaloon or awful pseudo-Shakespeare that seem cool at first but then make you realize the translator was just being unoriginal and sucking his own dick and reveling in his own mediocrity when you find out what they are.

C-TIER:
Literal, faithful translation: get loads of uninspired drek like "Welcome to the town." and "You are a bad man!" Embarrasses weebs by showing how shallow and insipid their grand JRPG masterpieces truly are.

D-TIER:
Ebin edgy 14-year-old romhacking translations: Really more of hacks. Text is replaced with lots of fucking, swears, and drug references. The poor kid who made the hack is probably in jail by now.

F-TIER:
Ideological / politburo correction: "Translations" that filter the content of a game through an ideology like social justice or communism to make everything appropriate. Not interesting at all since these dweebs are brain-rotted ghouls who can't think of anything else but their ideology.

You can say the same thing for pretty much every other infamously difficult NES game.
