It depends what kinds of games you like and what system limitations were turning you off. If you want action games there isn't a ton that will do much, but it has some very cool RPGs and adventure games.

Here's your list.
>Mega Man X
>Mario World
>Rondo of Blood
>Sonic 2
>Sonic 3K
>Streets of Rage 2
>Donkey Kong Country
>Devil's Crush
>Chrono Trigger
>Yoshi's Island
>Shinobi 3
>Ninja Warriors Again
>Super Metroid

Here are the ones that are side scrolling 2D games with a mix of playforming and action as their core gameplay
>Mega Man X
>Mario World
>Rondo of Blood
>Sonic 2
>Sonic 3K
>Streets of Rage 2
>Donkey Kong Country
>Yoshi's Island
>Shinobi 3
>Ninja Warriors Again
>Super Metroid

Now I'm sure you're itching to say how totally different Super Metroid is from Streets of Rage, to which I reply that's exactly why I am mocking all of you fir having such pathetically limited scope.

Not him but why do you want to try and get into a genre you obviously don't find very appealing? It's hard to know what you're really looking for. What aspects appeal and what tropes turn you off?

Have you tried Legend of the River King? It is an RPG, but a very unusual one. You just play a kid who goes out into the world catching various kinds of fish. It's very comfy and relaxing.

I liked FF VII well enough but I wouldn't really describe it as comfy. Certainly not the most comfy by far.

No it's because storytelling is based on relaying a narrative of something that happened because there's some nugget of truth in there. A game by deffinition is something where a player has agency over what happens. So the two are intrinsically at odds with each other, too strong a narrative means you have to strip agency from the player and opposite. It's possible to shoehorn the two together, but on a fundamental level stories and games don't mix well.

I don't think you get what's going on here, tadpole. I am no fan of sevenleaf, hence why I linked the trans posts here in the first place. But you babies who get all triggered every time there's a post are now even funnier than the old meltdowns were. It's the cycle of life!

>Games with a failure condition that is extremely rare to actually see still count,

Of course they still count. A failure state isn't a requirement in something being a game.
