Fuck it, tomorrow is payday, so I'm ordering a DE10 off digikey (cheaper than Terasic because of the delivery costs).
Aside from a better power supply for the MiSTer, and yeah this is technically unrelated now, what's some cool shit I can tack on to the order?

People should do what they want, but be openminded to alternatives.
eg. I have a MiSTer for every platform that runs well, Everdrives for my GB and GBA, an RGB modded console + ED64x7 + CRT for N64 to keep my busy- as I wait warmly on the PS1 core for MiSTer, and I'm waiting on the Morph scaler releasing this year to play more PS2/GC games around that dawn of HD period on a big 4K screen with good polyphase scanline filters to attenuate the visuals a little and get ready for the future when CRTs stop being available hoping the Morph accepts 720p signals too, so it'll work on Switch games, because I think Nintendo's recent focus on big openworld games like BotW or Xenoblade that look blurry and run at 15fps on the Switch's puny Tegra chip was... misguided.

It's about what works for the individual. If a raspberry pi fills your needs, rad, that means you're saving thousands of bucks potentially.

The only thing I want for now, really, is a good controller. My kingdom for Nintendo to release a revision of the Switch Pro con with analogue triggers and snap-dome switches in the D-pad/face buttons.

No general CRT thread, so I'll ask here:
Is it worth picking up a smallish 1280x1020 res PC CRT from a no-name brand?

I think it's multiscan so unless the tube is complete garbage I think it'd be nice for PS2 games, but people only ever bang on about premium models and supply of those has been entirely snapped up in my shitty country.

I know this is the CRT thread, but I'd like to ask you fellas something because you would know a lot more about handling SD signals than the average /vr/ browser:
I guess overall, what's your opinions on 480i and 480p?

I very much like the way scanlines appear, so 480i has always felt like a sin- and I'm not privileged enough to own a multiformat monitor (let alone a high TVL unit to retain clear scanline separation even with 480i/480p) so 31Khz is exclusively the realm of flatscreens for me. Would it be a good idea to purchase a downscaler to "line-halve" >480p/interlaced signals, to play 6th and 7th gen titles on a CRT? Or is that too aggressive in darkening the picture and distorting the details? I imagine it'll harm text legibility if nothing else.
Basically I'm on the fence about getting the new retrotink specifically because it can allegedly do downscaling as well as upscaling with motion adaptive deinterlacing, and the option to either play on a CRT via downscaling (if handled well) or to get a get simulacrum of the CRT experience with low-lag deinterlacing+upscaling on a 4K OLED sounds very appealing. But it costs a big chunk of change and I don't know if we're expecting some kinda retro signal Renaissance with all the FPGA stuff that's happened recently.

We have standards, its kind of like the guidelines. We all have a similar attitude towards a time when common sense and common courtesy were real things. Something that seems to be lost amongst the masses of automotons.

I love Wario so much. I grew up playing nothing but these games and Kirby all the time. Wario is unironically my hero. I love them all. The ending theme for the first 3 Wario Land get me seriously emotional. I played the Virtual Boy one recently and it's fucking amazing. What an awesome series.

I would pay Nintendo money so I could have VB Wario Land in my 3DS but they're stupid.

I missed you too, anon.
I think I came to the point where I don't care about modern games, but I have a ton of /vr/ games and people who share my hobby.
It's nice to know you are always welcome with Atari or Intellivision or with Playstation and Dreamcast.
I've been playing Enduro lately. And what have you been playing, anon?

Yeah, again, if you're prone to having motion sickness, the VB will be a curse. However, I personally never experiences headaches, eye strain or anything like that.
Its bad ergonomics gave me neck pain though.

>>2393718

Those screenshots aren't mine, I actually never used any VB emulator (except for a retroarch one on a friend's PS3 once, it was kinda bad, even with 3D glasses).
