This is an enemy from Metroid 2. For the longest time I had no idea what it was supposed to be, and imagined it as some kind of insect with a shapely rear.

Apparently it's actually supposed to be a plant-like creature, so I was way off.

So I've been playing Metroid 2 lately, and I've always wondered... what is this enemy supposed to be? Some kind of flying butt beetle?

Apparently it's supposed to be a plant-like creature. I don't see it, to be honest.
