That's AVGN being retarded. OK, so to place Mandragora or Nitro you press, wait for it, the Use key in the place it needs to go. Now, here's the thing he could've made a real anger fit about: If you try to blow up the sealed cracked wall, the wall does not die. What you're supposed to do first is find out how to deactivate the seal and where. But if you didn't know that, then you get to do the Nitro sequence again! Despite that, it's probably one of my favourite stages next to the ones after it. Platforming is one of the things the game does OK.

Castlevania's hard mode isn't so bad, you're right. In fact, the last two stages are identical to the original loop, so once you get to the end, you are home free.

Castlevania III, on the other hand is much tougher, especially with those stupid skeleton heads that take the Medusa Heads' place. Fun fact: not only is the Japanese version of Castlevania III much easier, it doesn't have the tougher enemies during the loop. America really got the best version of Castlevania III (if you don't count the music changes, I really love the Famicom version's music).
