Q&A session with David Siller, producer and disputed lead designer of Crash Bandicoot 1:

It starts off a little slow, and the audio is stupid af, but worth listening to.

"What about Crash Bandicoot?" is how I'd feel.

I guess you could give Crash Bandicoot's music a try, though it is very different from Spyro's music (there's nothing quite like either of them, honestly). Crash 2's is the best. Some of the uncompressed music mixes for all 3 Crash games are avilable on Josh Mancell's Soundcloud profile.

You don't want a Crash Bandicoot cartoon series? I do. Crash would probably act pretty much be like Scrat from Ice Age, and I'd watch the shit out of that.

I think Crash Bandicoot 2 is the best in the series, all things considered.

Best gameplay and controls, best graphics, level design almost on par with Crash 1, but lacking a little in the color palette sometimes, best music, even got the best story.

The only criticism I've got for it is that it's too easy. They all are, platforming-wise. I seriously wish somebody could bring Crash Bandicoot's well paced and compact 3D platforming to its full potential.

With David Wise, I wouldn't really argue too much.

But with the N64, I think the sound department took a big blow.

Here's two somewhat comparable tracks, one from Banjo Kazooie and one from Crash Bandicoot 2:

To me, there's no question which one is more engaging, more adventurous, more exotic, more immersive... Crash Bandicoot's. I always felt like Banjo's music was trying too hard to be childish and humorous, while for Crash Bandicoot, it just came so naturally and rarely came through as irritating or out of place (that is, until Crash Twinsanity came along).
