The NES has two graphic adventures I can recommend. Deja Vu and the port of Maniac Mansion(the less censored prototype). Deja Vu has some small unfair shit happening, but is mostly exploration and using your head. Some puzzles don't exactly make sense, but it's still a decent game. You get to shoot unknown strangers, break into people's homes, steal pharmaceuticals, drug kidnapping victims, and punch a hooker right between the eyes right outside of a police station.

Maniac Mansion I actually like better than Day of the Tentacle. Maniac Mansion lets you take different ways of beating the game by choosing different teammates to bring with you. You need a musician to jam, you need Wendy to type, you need Michael to develop pictures, you need Bernard to fix the radio, you need Jeff to fix the phone, etc. You can get the Meteor arrested, stick him inside the trunk of a flying Edsel and launch him into space, or get him a publishing contract. You can befriend Ed or hand him his hamster after you run it through the microwave. Hell, you can even kill off some of the kids if you want. Or you can just make the reactor blow and finish the game the BAD END way. Music is kinda catchy, but after a while you'll be glad each kid has an in-game way to turn off his/her soundtrack.
