How can I improve my pixel art? I want to make some 16-bit type sprites for a flash game, but all my work ends up being undetailed shit. Do you guys have any good tips?

It would be fine if they could do it right, but it's just an excuse to have shitty art and generic platforming with a single gimmick; see Fez, VVVVVV, Terraria, etc.

Games that have done it will include Cave Story, Jamestown, and Bit.trip
