Saturn has downgraded audio all across the board, except for the few music tracks that were redone (primarily Tengu & Aqua Man stages). Also has worse quality FMVs if you care about that, the funky water ripple effect will likely make you mistime underwater spikes, the Duo stage alarm sound effect is possibly the most asinine thing to add in the game, and a worse controller setup (they removed a button assignment option despite Saturn having more buttons). Really all it has is some exclusive art pieces in the Bonus Mode that should've by all accounts been included in Legacy Collection, like early versions of Sword & Pirate Man. Other than that, a resounding 'meh'.

Most of the MM8 discourse I've seen involves a very vocal sect talking about the Saturn version nonstop at every opportunity like it suddenly turns what's ultimately a middling entry into something that'll change the way you see the game forever, but..eh?

Please stop pretending that the Saturn version of Mega Man 8 is so much better that it totally transforms anyone's experience enough to re-rank it several spots ahead of other games. If you liked the PlaySrltation version, you'll probably like the Saturn version; if you hated the PlayStation version, guess what? You'll still hate the Saturn version. The End.

So's the Saturn version apparently, but most of us didn't notice because we most likely either played the inexpensive Japanese version or an imperfect emulation.
