Do you think the newer generations will appreciate retro games, do you think newer kids will learn to appreciate something from the NES?
I dunno, but I started to play with emulators (zsnes) when I was 17, just to play super mario world, then I started to play older games and felt in love, simple to play, hard to master, just gameplay, no fancy graphics, not a pseudo story with linear corridors, they were and still are what I consider a videogame.

But I still wonder if the only people interested in such concepts are just older people, wonder if kids now will still enjoy something as arcane as Pitfall or pacman.

Hello gamers,

I got a lil spending money for Christmas and I need advice from ppl that know what they're tlking about. Basically I grew up on the Wii and am a huge gamer but I can't afford either next gen console or the Wii U controller, so I thought it would be cool to get some "retro cred" from gaming's roots

I don't even know where to start, from what I can see I have two options: an old Nintendo or an old playstation (Xbox 360 isn't retro enough.) The benefits of an old Nintendo if I can play some of the original Marios, Zeldas, Sonics, etc. But with a old playstation I could play stuff that is totally new to me like Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, etc.

If it helps I am more into the hardcore games like Zelda (Twilight Princess) and Mario Galaxy instead of casual party games and sport games, so which one is better to start with??

Thanks!

I'm sure many of you, like me, hate the 50 million let's play videos that have flooded video sharing sites recently.

Today I want to share some shows I like. Shows that take the time and energy to make well made videos that deserve your time. I also want to find some new shows that I don't know about, so share em' if you got em'.

RULES:
1. Videos must not be a let's play.
2. Reviews/Overviews/Facts/Interesting Information/Rarities are fine
3. Multiple videos from same series are fine.
4. Do not post obvious try-hards doing it just to get famous. REAL FUCKING GAMERS ONLY.

Hello /vr/ please forgive me shitting up your board but I don't know where else to ask this.
You see I am a pleb when it comes to retro games, sure I have played one or two of the really big ones but the majority of them have passed me by.
So I was hoping that you might have one of those lists, a recommended retro game or "essentials" list that I could play some games from and have a better feel for the board and for retro games as a whole.
If there is not one already maybe we could make one in this thread?

Once again I want to apologize if I am shitting up the board, or breaking some unspoken rule.

So apart from the /vr/ board, is someone else also entirely sticking to only playing older games? I've been playing games by /vr/ rules (1999 and earlier and no sixth gen or above) and finding I don't really need other games anymore.
