That's just one out of six tricks though, I did say most.

Also that's not a new thing, it was a very common tactic back then to do as a cheap and quick piracy check.. back during cartridge copiers before emulation was even much of a thing. I recall how Puggsy on Sega Genesis STILL trips most emulators to this day with that trick.

Pic related is pugsy if it detects the wrong save, you get this screen after beating a certain level, and this prevents you from finishing the game. This screen also played a creepy music track. Anyone else know of any other interesting anti-piracy screens/measures?

Puggsy on the Mega Drive had a clever one. Beyond the first boss, the game would check for SRAM, and if found, would trigger the message. Since the actual cart had no SRAM (instead using a password system) it was not a problem.

This renders Puggsy unplayable on any emulator that cannot disable SRAM
