I've been collecting the PS1 Final Fantasy games but I can't seem to find a PAL (EU) version of tactics, was it a JP and NA game only?

What's your most clutch /vr/ moment?
>playing Tactics for the first time
>final battle against Altima
>Priest dead with nobody else able to revive her
>Cloud is a frog
>Orlandu is confused
>Ramza and Worker 8 are both one hit from dying
>Ramza walks up to Altima and deals the finishing blow

I'm looking for a retro RPG (especially JRPG) which has challenging gameplay with an interesting combat system. I personally don't enjoy vanilla turn-based systems i.e. Dragon Quest, or systems which only vaguely improve on the same concept (most mainline FF games).

I'm currently leaning towards playing a bunch of strategy/tactics games, as the gameplay is a lot more involved than just "mash A to select attack every turn; sometimes heal" as far as I'm aware.

Anyone got any recommendations for RPGs/JRPGs/strategy games which might scratch this itch? I've also been eyeing up Valkyrie Profile and Grandia as I hear they have really fun turn-based systems, but I don't know if they'd pose much of a challenge.

Pic semi-related as I've enjoyed what I've played so far but have no idea if it'll hold up later.

I'll be playing this for the first time when I get home from work. It will also be my first time playing a tactical rpg. Does anyone have any suggestions, tips for early game development, or things to avoid? I have the tutorial a shot but it was a bit convoluted.

I've been ignoring the main story and just grinding jp to make my characters stronger. Am I playing this game wrong?

Can someone please explain this to me?

>game begins by telling you that Delita went down in history as a hero and that Ramza was forgotten
>at the end of the game Delita dies like a bitch and literally everyone knows that Ramza saved the world

FF Tactics. Not sure why I wasn't into it at first, I gave it a shot and I guess I just got bored too quickly and moved on to some other games. Went back to it some time later and gave it more of a chance, and it became one of my favorite games of all time.

So can someone tell me how to git gud at this game?

Or do you really have to just keep grinding for hours at a time to get to the next boss?

Had the NES and SNES growing up, but the PS1 Rpg's have always captivated me. I've never really gotten over them, despite always playing new consoles up to 7th gen, it's just the ps1 Rpg's are always what I feel like playing.

Final fantasy tactics always gets a play every year, since it's by large and far my favorite game. Everything else is on at least an every two year if not longer wait to be replayed.

If they could just make direct offshoots with the original FFT for me I'd be a happier human. Yes, I'm the same fag that always gushes about the game.

So I have the option of buying this or Vagrant Story or the original MGS on the PSN.

My son took 60 bucks and threw it in my PSN Wallet (lo fucking l), and of that I have 40 dollars remaining.

I plan on getting Shovel Knight, but I decided to get one of those 3 as well.

Really leaning towards FFT.

Any other advice I should take before I drop some cash on the shop? Any other game suggestion on the Classics store?

For whatever reason, Final Fantasy Tactics has a ton of mods for it. Which ones are worth checking out? I'd like to replay the game but with a new spin on it.

I would like to play some on my Playstation. Do they work on real consoles?

There how honestly isn't a more engaging or brilliantly woven tale of political intrigue or deception in all of video games. Tactics is the cream of the writing crop.
