you respawn if you die[Gradius V,Parodius,Aero Fighters and others]
or
you have a checkpoint[Gradius [except V],LifeForce,R-type[except super],Silver Surfer,Darius and others]
or you get nothing[Super R-type,U.N Squadron]
and in either of the 3 ways,you are getting raped in the ass UNLESS you can recover your powerups but if this is the case you are either playing easy mode or its a hard as shit game
imo the easiest type of shumps are the ones that have a lifebar+continues(1943) but even with lifebar and no continues(Burning Angels and other TG16 shumps) it's still hard(unless again,its easy mode)
